From Employee to Freelance Social Media Strategist in Barcelona

I didn’t plan to move to another country.

And I didn’t plan to build a digital agency in Barcelona.

But at some point, I knew I had to change direction.

For several years, I worked for other companies in different roles.

I gained experience, structure and stability. Yet something always felt incomplete.

I wasn’t building something of my own. I wasn’t fully exploring my creativity.

And I wasn’t working with the level of strategic intention I craved.

I always knew I wanted to create something independently.

I just didn’t know what form it would take.

During the Covid period, I decided to invest seriously in understanding digital positioning, brand communication and online strategy.

I began studying marketing more deeply and showing up consistently on Instagram, refining my voice and experimenting with content formats.

That is when everything started to shift.

If I could build and position my own brand online, I could help others do the same.

Today, I work as a freelance social media strategist, helping brands grow through strategic content creation and social media management.

Last year, I officially launched my own digital agency in Barcelona, focused on supporting founders, creatives and growing businesses with intentional online positioning.

Many entrepreneurs want to focus on scaling their operations, developing products or improving their services.

What often feels overwhelming is building a clear social media strategy, understanding what to publish, how to communicate their value and how to create consistent, high-quality content.

This is where strategy meets creativity.

Freelancing has taught me that building a strong digital presence takes patience.

You don’t develop a recognisable brand overnight.

You don’t generate consistent results in a week.

Sustainable growth requires clarity, consistency and continuous refinement.

As a freelance social media strategist, I have learned that strategy is only part of the equation. The other part is empathy.

Understanding a brand’s identity.

Recognising its challenges.

Aligning communication with long-term positioning.

Effective social media management is not just about posting. It is about building trust, authority and meaningful connection.

Barcelona was never part of a long-term plan. It began as a temporary experience and evolved into the foundation for this next stage. Building a digital agency in Barcelona has given me an international perspective, creative clarity and a new network of ambitious founders and entrepreneurs.

This series, Barcelona, Business & Creativity, explores what it truly means to build a location-independent business, grow as a freelance social media strategist and develop a digital agency with intention.

Because if something does not work the first time, you refine it.

You adjust your strategy.

And you build again, more intentionally.

If you are looking for a freelance social media strategist or a digital agency in Barcelona to help you grow your brand with clarity and intention, I would love to connect.

Let’s build something meaningful together
